The purpose of the Sullivan Baptist Association is to partner with our churches in... Strengthening Christ-like Servant Leadership – as a Coach Building Christ-like Unity and Community – as a Connector Advancing Christ-like Love and Acceptance – as a Catalyst It is our desire to complete this vision through servant leadership and teamwork. Because God has led us to embrace this vision, we believe that we can not only implement it, but complete it with our churches: Ø We believe that the local church can be an inviting place for unChristians to come to saving faith of our Lord Jesus Christ. Ø We believe that the Holy Spirit works through us collectively to reveal Himself to our community. Ø We believe that God desires to use His church, the collective group of believers in upper east Tennessee, to win Sullivan for the Savior! Because we believe these things, we have organized our resources to maximize our effectiveness for the local congregation. Our activities are centered on group processes and teambuilding, and our personnel exhibit Christ-like servant leadership in all we do. We have strong, focused leaders who lead as they discern & determine God’s heart for Sullivan County. Our leaders are called and entrusted to provide, guide and protect our churches, helping them to enlarge, expand, and extend their influence in Sullivan County. ------------------------------------------------------- THE LEADERSHIP OF THE SULLIVAN BAPTIST ASSOCIATION
Our Moderator is Jeff Strong, who has pastored at Sullivan Baptist Church for the past 13 years. Over those years, Jeff has led the church to grow and develop new ministries, as evidenced by Sullivan’s strong relationship with the local school system and the work the church completes there. At our most recent annual meeting, we were stirred by Jeff’s words to remain steadfast in our commitment to simply “preach the Word.”
Our Assistant Moderator is Roc Collins, pastor at Indian Springs Baptist Church. Roc has been growing ISBC toward a deeper commitment to discipleship and maturity. The worship services at Indian Springs are diverse (one is a little more traditional, one a little more contemporary), and the preaching is evidence of Roc’s special gifting. Roc’s desire is to help our leaders in how we preach and communicate to make a difference in Sullivan County. The third link of our leadership trio is Dallas Bivins, Associational Missionary. His role is to “put feet” to the vision and direction of the Sullivan Baptist Association. The two passions in Dallas’ life are leadership and coaching, and he uses his skills and training in these areas each and every day in the SBA! |
